The oldest artifacts found in the area of settlement show, that it was inhabited from the Neolithic age. Excavated graves in the village outskirt testify that early Hungarians inhabited the territory in the Conquest period. The first written record of the existence of Nesvady is from 1269, where is described as Novum Naswod, a territorial unit administered by the Archdiocese of Esztergom.
